DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR STORM DRAINS FLOW?

The Russian River flows through the east side of the Town of Cloverdale, parallel to Highway 101.

An excellent way to access and enjoy the river in Cloverdale is at Cloverdale River Park, which runs along the west bank of the Russian River in Northern Sonoma County. The park is accessible via McCray Road.

The trail is paved and open to pedestrians, bikers and equestrians and starts at the McCray Road parking area and runs for about 1 mile to First Street. A few trail spurs along the way provide access to the river’s edge.

The most prominent plant community along the trail is the cottonwood tree, though you’ll also notice California walnut, maple, buckeye and willow. Large coast and valley oaks are located near the trailhead in the parking area. Great care has been taken to restore plant, animal and fish habitat at this park by removing invasive species and planting native plants.

The Russian River continues flowing south through Sonoma County until Healdsburg where it begins to wind its way to the coast

Remember, storm drains connect streets to creeks, which flow into the Russian River. Simple changes can make a big impact. The Russian River is Ours to Protect.
