MOBILE WASH & DETAIL

Having a mobile wash and detail service come to you may sound like a convenient option, however, it is important to be aware that anything other than rain with the potential to enter the storm drain is considered a discharge or “spill” to the municipal storm drain system and may be a violation of City Code. Car owners and mobile business owners may be held liable for any discharge or potential for discharge. If you hire a mobile wash and detail crew to come to your place of business or residence, ensure that they follow all Best Management Practices (BMPs) and prevent any wash water from entering the storm drain system.

The business you hire should follow these simple BMPs:

  • Sweep the pavement where autos will be cleaned before you start.
  • Clean up wet or oily spots with rags and absorbent, or a designated mop.
  • Pour any wash water into an inside drain.
  • Contain wash water and dispose of properly into the sewer system.
  • Properly contain used solvents for offsite removal.
  • Ensure that used water is not allowed to discharge into the street or storm drain.
