SIMPLE CHANGES MAKE A BIG IMPACT.
Pick up any trash before water or wind arrives. If it’s out of the street, it’s away from our creeks.
Streets, gutters and storm drains are designed to channel rainwater to creeks during storms and prevent street flooding. Trash and other debris can decrease flow capacity or block storm drain culverts or pipes and cause flooding. Trash flushed into creeks from storm drains can snag or look like food to fish and other aquatic life eventually causing injury or death.
- Check and clean outside areas regularly.
- Keep trash receptacles and dumpster lids closed.
- Sweep up all debris, including any debris from parking areas, areas around trash receptacles, and portions of the sidewalk, curb, and gutter in along your property.
